Access to Therapy

I believe that therapy should be as accessible as possible.

From January 2026, I’ll be moving to a sliding scale fee structure inspired by the Green Bottle Model, which recognises that people have different levels of financial access. My aim is to make therapy more available while keeping my practice sustainable. You can find my current rates here.

Sliding scales are rooted in mutual trust. I won’t ask for proof of income; I trust clients to choose the rate that fits their situation. In return, I commit to offering the same presence, care and integrity to everyone I work with, regardless of what they pay.

That trust relies on a couple of shared understandings:

  • Therapists deserve fair pay, and clients deserve therapy that acknowledges real financial differences.

  • There is a difference between sacrifice and hardship:

    • Sacrifice means that paying for therapy might require cutting back, but not on essentials (food, rent, transport).

    • Hardship means therapy would compromise those essentials, in which case you belong at the lower end of the scale.

Unlike many sliding-scale services, I don’t receive external funding. My fees reflect both accessibility and sustainability, and take into account:

  • My training and commitment to ongoing learning and development

  • My growing experience as a therapist

  • The added preparation, energy and complexity involved in partnered work

  • Room hire, travel, and self-employment costs

  • The cost of living

If you’re financially comfortable, and would like to support wider access, you’re invited to choose a ‘Pay it Forward’ rate (20–25% above standard). These contributions directly fund my ‘Solidarity’ spaces for those who couldn’t otherwise afford therapy.

This approach is an experiment in collective care. Thank you so much for being part of it!

The Green Bottle Model reframes money in terms of access rather than income, offering three tiers:

'Standard' Rates

For those with relative financial stability.

Examples:

Owning property, meeting basic needs* with expendable income**, or access to savings.

'Solidarity' Rates

For those who could not afford therapy without hardship.

Examples:

Struggling to meet basic needs, lacking savings or financial support.

If even the lowest rates are out of reach, please contact me so we can explore other options.

'Supported' Rates

For those whose finances are tight but not in crisis.

Examples:

Living paycheck to paycheck, paying back debt, or receiving family/partner support (please use those resources before the sliding scale).

The Green Bottle Model

*Basic needs include food, housing and transportation

**Expendable income means, for example, being able to afford to buy coffee out, go to the movies or a concert, or to buy clothes, books, or similar items regularly

Lower-cost spaces are limited, so please choose the rate that feels both fair and truthful to your situation.

Choose the rate that feels fair and sustainable for you. You can adjust your rate if circumstances change.

I review my fees regularly to balance accessibility and sustainability.

Sessions: 50 minutes weekly or fortnightly (75- and 100-minute options available, priced proportionally).

How the Sliding Scale Works

For Transparency

  • Partnered sessions are now slightly higher to reflect added complexity and preparation time.

  • 'Pay it Forward' rates directly fund 'Solidarity' spaces.

  • In-person sessions include £20 for room hire and £2 for travel (these are absorbed into most tiers, but itemised in the Solidarity rate).

  • Current rates (for comparison):

    • Online individual – £70.00

    • Online partnered – £80.00

    • In-person individual – £90.00

    • In-person partnered – £100.00
